Last week, Trammell Crow Company subsidiary High Street Residential announced the start of work on new housing in the ELCO Yards development in Redwood City.
The two apartments buildings, which are being developed through a joint venture with Barings, will result in a combined 501 apartments. They include a 252-unit building with 5,277 square feet of retail space at 1555 El Camino Real, as well as a 249-unit building at 113 Beech Street.
Plans call for a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, with a portion reserved as affordable housing. Other project components would include rooftop decks, club rooms, pools, coworking space, parking, and other amenities.
WRNS Studio is designing both buildings, while SBI Builders will serve as general contractor.
The mixed-use project is on track for completion in 2029.
The apartment buildings are part of a larger development which will also include 600,000 square feet of offices and lab space, as well as commercial uses, open space, and community amenities. The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has leased 224,000 square feet of space at the complex, while Orrick has taken 65,000 square feet.
