Construction is making progress for Alexan Icon, a new multifamily residential development from Trammell Crow Residential in South San Francisco, per a new social media post from TCA Architects.
The 480-unit development, located at 1587 and 1588 San Mateo Avenue, consists of a pair of six-story structures framing the intersection, which is described as a southern gateway to South San Francisco. Plans call for a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments and 560 parking spaces.
Approved plans will require 60 of the apartments to be set aside as affordable housing.
Construction of the Alexan development commenced in mid-2025.
Other members of the project team include general contractor SBI Builders, EPT Design, Parisa O'Connell interior Design, VCA Engineers, LDI Mechanical, Inc., Emerald City, and AMPAM.
